BHA Annual Conference – Sadly we will not be seeing you in November. It is with great sadness, but after careful deliberation, we will not be running the annual conference on the 24/25th November in Glasgow. Sadly, the uncertainty surrounding Covid 19 has had a significant impact on the conference attendance, making it unviable. This is a huge disappointment for our dedicated HO team and all our partners, our 30 speakers, 15 exhibitors and Stantec our sponsors, but running the conference is simply not viable. We will now consider a number of options including running a one-day conference in the spring possibly around May/June time 2022. There will certainly be a number of Virtual Events in the New Year, based around some of the conference sessions. Many thanks for your continued support it is very much appreciated.

Engage, Debate, Celebrate

As we gradually emerge into a form of new normal, the BHA two-day conference in Glasgow is one way of sharing and celebrating our hydropower journey.

Enjoy a high quality, stimulating conference programme over 2 days, making this the essential forum for the UK hydropower sector to engage, debate and to celebrate. Our technical exhibition runs in parallel providing the opportunity to maximise profile and ensure coverage before, during and after the conference.

This is the opportunity, after a gap of 2 years, for hydropower’s leading experts and practitioners to enjoy a diverse exhibition and a stimulating conference dinner which provides a terrific opportunity to meet and relax with delegates, colleagues, and friends, old and new.

The Programme

A Wide Range of Subjects

Michael Matheson MSP, Scottish Government Cabinet Secretary for Net Zero, Energy and Transport will make the keynote address on the morning of the first day of the conference.

This year’s programme will cover a wide range of subjects including, Non-Domestic rates in Scotland, tidal range energy, long duration storage, co-located batteries and hydro, outage planning and access changes, community hydro, future energy scenarios, the insurance market for hydro, the EV market and hydro, the Loss of Mains Protection Programme, outcomes from the SEPA charging consultation, hydropower sustainability standards, tilting weirs, disruptive hydro technology, and many others.
